Discover Black-founded companies

by Y Combinator2/1/2022

Today, we updated the YC directory dedicated to highlighting Black-founded companies. The directory now includes more than 175 companies, and combined, these companies are valued at $6.7B and have raised $1.4B in funding — an increase of $1.5B and $300M respectively in one year. The page also includes new blog posts and news articles, so you can learn more about the companies’ founders, mission, and milestones. Whether you’re an investor, job seeker, or potential customer, we hope you explore the directory and use it as a resource when seeking to support Black-founded startups.

Two other resources we’d like to make you aware of are YC’s Black Engineers in Startups Seminar and HBCU event.

Black Engineers in Startups Seminar: The seminar is a multi-week commitment for Black engineers looking to learn more about working at a startup. The program runs online from February 9-23 (once a week for two-hour sessions) and includes talks from YC and YC alum about working at a startup, building teams, navigating startups and tech, and more. Apply here. The deadline is February 6 by 12:00pm PT.

HBCU event: The one hour virtual event is for students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), who are interested in starting or working at a startup. The event takes place on February 9 from 3:00pm PT and includes talks from YC alum and YC’s Michael Seibel. They’ll share riveting tales of startup life and startup advice. Sign up to attend.
